The error tells you that there has been some problem with BitDefender Threat Scanner and the details of the problem are in the DMP file. It also told you to send that file to the developers. That’s what you should do in case of any error. However, if you are here on this article, meaning you want quick solution instead of replying to messages of customer support. Below are three methods to fix the issue.

Method 1 – Apply the Patch

The issue is already known to the Bitdefender Pand they have released the patches to fix this issue. So, in Method 1, we will try the fix. The patch is different for 32bit and 64bit operating system. So you need to check the system type of your computer. If you don’t know, already you can check it in the property of your computer. To do that Right Click on the This PC and click Properties.

In my case, it is 64bit so that I will download that patch. If your PC is 32 bit, then download that patch.

Don’t worry the patch is safe and adequately tested as you are downloading it from the Bitdefender official website. Run this patch and the issue in the BitDefender Threat Scanner should resolve. If not, then follow the next method.

Method 2 – Fix the Corrupted Files

The reason you see this error is due to the Spybot’s corrupted file. One of its DLL gets damaged, and you start seeing the BitDefender Threat Scanner error. To fix the issue, we are going to replace the corrupted file with the correct data.

Open File Explorer and then type C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Spybot – Search & Destroy 2 in the address bar and press enter.

You will see the list of files in the Spybot. Now locate the file with name SDAV.dll. When you cannot find the file, meaning you need to the new file or reinstall the Spybot – Search & Destroy 2. Also, if the size of the data is less than 32KB, then you need the original file to remove the error.

Once you download the file, right-click on it, and click Copy.

Then visit the Spybot – Search & Destroy 2 folder right-click on it choose Paste.

If it shows the warning that, The destination already has a file named “SDAV.dll,” then click on Replace the file in the destination. Now the error of, A problem has occurred in BitDefender Threat Scanner should be solved if it does not then follow the next and last method.

Method 3 – Remove and Reinstall the BitDefender Application

If the error is still appearing on your PC, means there is something unknown happened. Now you need to remove the Bitdefender and install it again. To remove the Bitdefender, you can visit the control panel. However, it might not remove appropriately from there. So, download the Bitdefender Removal Tool. Run it on your PC, and it will help you to remove the Bitdefender correctly.

You can use the Bitdefender offline installer or download it from the official store and install it on your system. Activate your product, and this should resolve your issue.
